James G. Blevins

James G. Blevins, 87, of Copake, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family on September 13, 2023. He was born on July 27, 1936 to the late Rev. Wendell Clark  Blevins and Mildred (Cammack) Blevins. After graduating from Roeliff Jansen High School, Jim enlisted in the United States Army where he honorably served until 1959. On December 21, 1958, at the Hillsdale Methodist church he married Judith Goudie. They moved to Virginia where Jim worked on a chicken farm before relocating back to the RoeJan area. He worked for Custom Extrusion in Sheffield for 34 years before retiring and spending more time with his family. He was a skilled blacksmith whose work can still be found around the area and in family members' homes. His other hobbies included hunting, fishing, gardening and his John Deere Tractor.

James is survived by his loving wife Judith, his devoted daughters, Heathar Blevins and Deborah Maher and her husband James Robert Maher Jr. His four grandchildren, Victoria (Bruce) Goodas, Dustin Jensen, Dr. Amanda (Zachary) Sohotra, & Colton (Katherine) Maher. One great grandson, Noah Sohotra. His brother David (Nancy) Blevins, sister Margaret Evert and his beloved dog Pixel.

Graveside services will take place privately in the North Hillsdale Cemetery in the springtime. In lieu of flowers, donations in Jim’s memory may be made to the Community Hospice of Columbia & Greene Counties, 47 Liberty Street, Catskill, NY 12414.
