Herman E. Stickles Sr.

Herman E. Stickles Sr., 86, of Hudson, NY passed away on Friday, September 20, 2024, at Albany Medical Center. He was born on December 22, 1937, in Rhinebeck, NY, and was the son of the late Raymond E. Stickles Sr. and Sylvia Dubois Scism Stickles.

In Herman’s younger years, he was a farmer (for many years) and very knowledgeable in agriculture. When he wasn’t busy being a great father, his passions included listening to classic country music and playing his guitars. Not only was he an amazing storyteller but he was a friend to all, helped everyone who needed it and you could always count on him. His biggest desire was to be reunited with his loving wife. He will be truly missed by many.

Herman is survived by a son and three daughters;  Herman “Duke” Stickles Jr. of Philmont, NY; Sylvia Stevens and her husband (Erwin “Rig”) of Cabot, VT; Marie Shook of Hudson, NY; Flora MacDonald and her husband (Jan) of Columbiaville, NY; thirteen grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews, and loving friends. He is also survived by three brothers; Joseph Stickles of Pine Plains, NY,  Conrad Stickles of Amenia, NY, and Thomas Stickles of Millerton, NY along with four sisters; Lu-Ann Brizzie of Millerton, NY, Sylvia Wendover of Athens, NY,  Alice Palmer of Ancramdale, NY and Marie Cade of Pine Plains, NY.

Herman was predeceased by his wife of almost 60 years, Beverly Ann Stickles. He was also predeceased by two daughters; Brenda Stickles and Terry Wendover; a son, Peter Stickles; a son-in-law, Ray Shook; three brothers David Stickles of Millerton, NY, Raymond Stickles of Pine Plains, NY, Robert Stickles of Hudson, NY and a sister, Beverly Brazee of Sharon, CT.

Calling hours are Saturday, October 5th, 2024 from 12:00 to 2:00PM at the Peck & Peck Funeral Homes, 7749 S. Main Street, Pine Plains, NY. Family and friends are invited to attend. Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery, Pine Plains, NY.
