Stanfordville, NY - Henry "Harry" N. Orphal, 86, passed away on Wednesday, February 16, 2011 at home.

He was born in Queens, NY on December 12, 1924 the son of the late Henry G. and Elsie Orphal.

Mr. Orphal was owner and operator of Glendale Plumbing & Heating Company in Queens, NY.

He grew up in Stanfordville and graduated from Pine Plains High School. He returned in 1991 to retire in Stanfordville.

Mr. Orphal served with the United States Coast Guard, United States Army as well as the Merchant Marines. He spoke of happy memories playing the tuba in the band which was his saving grace.

He is a member of the American Legion Post in Ridewood, NY; a member of the Stanford Grange #808 which he held the position of gatekeeper. He is also a member of the Free and Accepted Masons.

On January 2, 1949 in Queens, NY he married Betty M. (Depken) Orphal. She survives him at home.

In addition to his loving wife of sixty three years survivors include two daughters, Bonnie and her husband, Spencer Hall; Nancy and her husband, Mike Hickey; four grandchildren, Corielle Lopez, Zachary Schwartz, Adam Barkey, Travis Barkey; and great granddaughter, Isabella Lopez.

Calling hours are 1 to 4 pm on Sunday, February 27, at the Peck & Peck Funeral Home South Main St. Pine Plains, NY 12567. A reception will follow at Uncle Sonny's Cafe in Stanfordville.

Funeral services and burial will be at the convenience of the family.
