Helen D. Seymour, 92 of Route 22 in Hillsdale, NY passed away on Thursday November 14, 2013 at her residence.

She was born on February 18, 1921 in New Britain, CT.

Mrs. Seymour was a longtime employee of the Roeliff Jansen School in Hillsdale where she worked as a teacher's assistant and substitute teacher.

Active in her community, she was an over 60 year member of the Hillsdale United Methodist Church, a member of the Roe Jan Historical Society, the Roe Jan Young at Hearters, a 20 year member of the Copake Grange and a 35 year and founding member of the Hillsdale Fire Co. Auxiliary.

On July 8, 1995 at the Hillsdale United Methodist Church she married William Seymour who survives her at home. Helen and Bill enjoyed travelling and visited Ireland, Scotland and Germany abroad and Hawaii and Alaska along with several other states.

She was pre deceased by her first husband, John Petith and a son, Clifton Petith.

Survivors include her husband William; a daughter Sharon Torkilson of Peyton, CO and a son Jay Petith of West Ghent, NY. She also leaves eight grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren along with several other extended family members including a niece, Joan Wood of Myrtle Beach, SC.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday November 19, 2013 at 11 AM from the Peck and Peck Funeral Home, 8063 State Route 22 in Copake, NY.

Friends are invited and may call at the funeral home on Monday November 18, 2013 from 4:00 - 7:00 PM.

Interment will be in the Hillsdale Rural Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be offered to either the Hillsdale United Methodist Church or the Hillsdale Fire Co., both Hillsdale NY 12519.
