She was born on May 11, 1929 in Newark, New Jersey a daughter of Edson and Ruth (Kenworthy) Leonard.
Mrs. Dougherty had been a local resident for the past 42 years previously residing in Wayne, NJ.
A homemaker, Helen was a longtime supporter ot the St. Labre Indian School in Ashland, Montana.
On October 8, 1945 she married Charles E. Dougherty who pre - deceased her in 1992.
Survivors include four sons, Richard of Brooklyn, NY, David of Ancramdale, Charles of Newton, NJ and Thomas of Middleburgh, NY; two daughters, Joan Foley of Middleburgh and Helen Baker of Theresa, NY. Additionally she leaves several grandchildren and great grandchildren along with her siblings, Thomas Leonard and Joan Marone.
A Service of Remembrance will be held on Thursday April 8, 2010 at 1:00 PM at the Peck and Peck Funeral Home, 8063 State Route 22 in Copake, NY.
Friends are invited and may call at the funeral home on Thursday from 12:00 - 1:00 PM.
Private interment will be in the Niver Cemetery, Craryville, NY.
Memorial contributions may be offered to the St. Labre Indian School, Ashland, MT 59004-1001.
