Harry R. Wyant, 81 years and life long resident of Milan passed away peacefully at home on April 21, 2024. He was born in Milan on June 19, 1942 the son of Henry and Margaret (Cuomo) Wyant. His early education was in Milan and he graduated from Pine Plains. On January 26, 1963 he married Joan Wood. Together they enjoyed 61 years of marriage.
In 1961, Harry began working for the Local 203 Carpenters out of Poughkeepsie. After 63 years he retired to enjoy spending more time with his family. He was an avid outdoors man who enjoyed hunting in Milan for deer and turkeys. He was also very involved in restoring garden tractors for his grandson to begin his tractor pulling hobby. This eventually evolved into bigger tractors with more horsepower and a bigger hobby. Harry was very proud of all of his grandchildren for their many accomplishments.
Harry is survived by his wife of 61 years, Joan. His son and daughter in law; Robert J. & Lisa Wyant, of Germantown and his daughter and son in law, Angela & Tony Cartagena, of Milan. Four grandchildren; Austin Cartagena and Joshua, Morgan, Jordan Wyant. In addition to his brother Guy Wyant, and sisters Mary Juhase and Ruth Yannacone.
He was predeceased by his brothers James Wyant, Sabino Cuomo, and his sister Sabina Cooney.
In keeping with Harry’s wishes, graveside services will be held privately at the Milan Union Cemetery. Donations in his memory may be made to the SPCA of Dutchess County.
