AMENIA-Harry Lorne MacKinnon Jr., 87, passed away on October 20, 2011 in Sharon, CT. He was a long time resident of the area, moving to Millerton in 1971, and later to Amenia. He was a lifetime dairy farmer, last working at Elmvue Farm before retiring.
Harry was born on June 4, 1924 in Somerville MA, the son of the late Harry Lorne, Sr. and Minnie (Archibald) MacKinnon. He honorably served in the United States Navy during World War II and the Korean War. After returning from service, he attended the University of Massachusetts at Stockbridge, School of Agriculture, where he received an Associate of Science degree.
Harry is survived by his daughter Lorna Sherman; son Bruce and Tara O'Neill; granddaughters Bridgett Sherman, Stacy Sherman and Ashley Klippel; great grandson Nikolas Klippel; sister Dorothy Stewart and brothers Carle and Allan. He was predeceased by his wife of 57 years, Shirley Jean (Magee) MacKinnon.
A graveside service with military honors was held at 1 PM on Wednesday, October 26, 2011 at the North Cemetery in Billerica, MA.
