Harold B. Hill Sr

Pine Plains - Harold B. Hill Sr., 82, passed away on Friday, December 2, 2011 at the Pine Haven Nursing Home in Philmont, New York. He was born on May 9, 1929 in Gallatin, NY, the son of the late Robert and Laura (Kilmer) Hill.

On September 5, 1948 in Gallatin, he married Kathaleen O'Grady. She survives him at home.

Harold attended Pine Plains Schools.

He worked as a custodian for fourteen years at the Hotchkiss School in Lakeville, CT, and previously spent many years in the grocery business.

Mr. Hill was an avid car enthusiast.

In addition to his loving wife, Kathaleen, he is survived by his children, Harold B. Hill Jr. and his wife Dorothy Lutz of Pine Plains, NY; June Dykeman and her husband Charles of Pine Plains, NY; and Jean Johnson and her husband Richard of Pine Plains, NY; as well as three grandchildren, Melissa Bowen, Richard Johnson, Jr. and Donald Thorpe, Jr.; four great grandchildren, Kayla and Kelsey Bowen, Brian Johnson, and Michael Calabrese; a brother, Melvin Hill and his wife Edith of Staatsburg; and several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by a grandson, Michael Petty, and by two brothers, Howard Hill and Robert Hill, Jr.

Calling hours will be held on Monday, December 5, 2011 from 2 to 4 pm and 6 to 8 pm at the Peck and Peck Funeral Home, 7749 S. Main St., Pine Plains, NY.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 1 pm at the funeral home, with Rev. Bill Mayhew officiating.

Interment will follow in the Evergreen Cemetery.
