Pine Plains, NY - Guido F. Forte Sr., 83, passed away on Friday, May 23, 2014 at the Northeast Center in Lake Katrine, NY.
He was born on February 25, 1931 in Millbrook, NY, the son of the late Gaetano and Maria (DeFazio) Forte.
He honorably served his country in the United States Marines Corps.
He is remembered as a master craftsman and was a member of the United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Jointers for over 58 years. He worked for various local construction companies during his career before retiring from the Matt Idema Construction Co. in Poughkeepsie.
His hobbies included wood working, fishing and always lending a hand to help out a friend in need, from broken toasters to building houses.
On January 25, 1977 in Lagrange, he married Diana (Hedges) Forte. She survives him at home.
In addition to his loving wife Diana, survivors include two sons, Anthony Forte and his wife Karen of Florida; Guido Forte Jr. and his wife Jennifer of East Greenbush, NY; two daughters, Donna Till and her husband David of Florida; Barbara Abate and her husband James of Pennsylvania; a sister, Frances Morteo of Poughkeepsie, NY; a brother, Anthony Forte of Florida; fourteen grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
He was predeceased by a daughter, Teresa Forte, a sister, Carmella Sottile, two brothers, Frank and Salvatore Forte and a grandson, LCPL Justin Till, USMC.
Calling hours are 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm on Friday, May 30, 2014 at the Peck & Peck Funeral Home, 7749 South Main St. Pine Plains.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 am on Saturday, May 31, at St. Anthony's Roman Catholic Church in Pine Plains, NY with Fr. William White, officiating.
Burial will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Millbrook, NY.
