Gloria May Midwood

Gloria May "Googie" Midwood, 87, passed away November 1, 2015, at Brookmeade Baptist Home, Rhinebeck.

Born March 31, 1928, in Pine Plains, to Floyd (Stubby) and Margaret (Miller) Sigler, Gloria is also predeceased by her twin-sisters, Liane Sigler and Lillian Conklin, and brothers, James Sigler and Floyd (Sonny) Sigler, Jr.

Educated in Perry's Corners and Millerton Schools, Gloria worked at Wassaic State School and was dental assistant for the Drs. Kappel for many years in Millerton.

On March 6, 1974, Gloria was married to the love of her life, Albert Midwood, who predeceased her after 27 happy years together, and miles of travel.

A great cook and baker who loved to entertain family, she was also a talented creator of whimsical stuffed characters, still treasured by many across the country.

Surviving are daughter Nancy (Wayne) Nelson of ST. George, Utah, son Donald Barton of Henderson, Nevada, and step-sons Thomas (Marilyn) Midwood, of Millerton and Richard (Jenny) Midwood of Sheffield, Ma. Gloria also leaves grandchildren; Lisa Bradley, Utah and Frank (Bucky) Barton, Nevada, and step-grandchildren Velvet, Jesse, and John Midwood, all of Millerton, also 4 great grandchildren, including Torin Midwood. As well as several beloved nieces and nephews.

In addition, Gloria is survived by many devoted and loyal cousins, friends and caregivers , and she will be greatly missed.

A graveside service is planned at Vedders Cemetary ( Gallatin Reformed Church) , Gallatin, NY on November 6, 2015, at 11:00 a.m. where she will be laid to rest with her late husband.

Officiating will be Pastor Carol Miller of Pine Plains Presbyterian Church.
