Gerald James Brusie, 71 of Hillsdale, NY passed away on Sunday January 8, 2012 at Fairview Hospital in Gt. Barrington, MA.

He was born on April 9, 1940 in Hillsdale, a son of the late John H. and Minnie (Pedell) Brusie.

A lifelong area resident, Mr. Brusie had been employed as a maintenance supervisor with the Pfizer Corp./Specialty Minerals in Canaan, CT. After his retirement from there he worked for the CA Lindell Hardware and Lumber Company also in Canaan.

He served his country with the United States Army from 1957 - 1960.

Mr. Brusie was the longtime constable for the Town of Hillsdale. He was a former member of the Hillsdale Fire Company and the Roeliff Jansen Lions Club. He had attended the Hillsdale United Methodist Church and in his spare time enjoyed both fishing and woodworking.

On November 7, 1987 in Craryville, NY he married Karen Marie (Stiles) Brusie who survives him at home in Hillsdale.

Besides his wife, he leaves his son and daughter in law, Timothy and Karin Brusie of New York, NY along with three grandchildren, Mandi Stallman, Shaun Jordan and Courtney Lockwood. Also surviving is a brother, Richard Brusie of Copake Falls, NY; a sister, Sheila Finger of Lincolndale, NY and several nieces and nephews.

Mr. Brusie was pre deceased by a step daughter, Cindy Lockwood and his siblings, Howard Brusie and Barbara Cooper.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday January 14, 2012 at 11 AM from the Peck and Peck Funeral Home, 8063 State Route 22 in Copake, NY with the Rev. Juanita Middlebrook officiating.

Friends are invited and may call on Friday January 13, 2012 from 5 - 8 PM also at the funeral home.

Interment will be in the Hillsdale Rural Cemetery.
