George E. Van Sise

April 19, 1932 — December 12, 2022

Copake, NY

George Van Sise, 90, of Copake NY and formerly of Wingdale NY, departed this life, peacefully, to reunite with his soulmate, Edna, on Monday December 12, 2022. George and Edna passed away within 42 days of one another. Born on April 19, 1932 in New York City, he was the son of the late Vance Durwood Van Sise and Josephine Van Sise (Mitchell).

George grew up and attended school in Pleasantville NY, where at the young age of 12, he met the love of his life and eternal soulmate, Edna Van Sise. Some may say that "falling in love at first sight" is cliche, but for George and Edna, there was no other option. Their love for one another flourished as time elapsed. On February 25, 1950, in Mount Pleasant, NY, Edna and George at the age of 17, exchanged vows and made an ultimate pact, "to have and to hold, to love and to cherish, till death do them part". That pact lasted for a total of 72 years!

George would often be seen wearing matching shirts with his love, Edna. He had many jobs throughout his life including a Machinist,  Mechanic, Truck Driver, Therapy Aide, Nurse and and lastly an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT). He truly loved helping others. George was a former volunteer for the Pioneer Hook and Ladder Company in Pleasantville New York as well as a Life Member for the Copake Fire Company. (Copake NY). George also volunteered and worked as an EMT for the Community Rescue Squad in Copake NY. He enjoyed rescuing chihuahuas, trips to Lake George, spending time with family, raising and fostering children and being the best Father, Grandfather, Great Grandfather and kind hearted, compassionate man that he could ever be. George, although gone, will never be forgotten.

George is survived by a brother, Jan Van Sise (Cricket Van Sise) of Summerville  SC, six children, William Van Sise (Melonie Van Sise) of Pine Plains NY, George Van Sise (Wanda Van Sise) of Palenville NY, Joan Dibono (Leo Dibono) of Hopewell Junction NY, David Van Sise (Adele Van Sise) of Seminole Florida, Edna Governale (Joseph Governale) of Pawling NY and Roy Van Sise (Laura Van Sise) of Pleasantville NY. He is also survived by 19 Grandchildren, 21 Great Grandchildren and his loving dog Ashley.
