Geoffrey Michael Howard

On Friday July 29th, 2016, surrounded by his wife and family, Geoffrey Michael Howard, at age 45, left the pain and suffering of his courageous battle with cancer in the arms of the Angels.

Geoff was born the son of Dion Michael Howard and Elizabeth Denise Corwin Tator on June 8th, 1971, in Poughkeepsie NY. He was raised upstate New York and attended Beacon and Germantown Schools. Geoff was known for his big heart and willingness to help anyone, as long as they were trying to help themselves. He loved his family, fast cars, music, amusement parks and bubble gum. Geoff loved working on engines and driving the toys he modified. New York is where Geoff met his beautiful wife Jana Howard. They moved to Tennessee and settled into the community of Portland to raise their children. Coaching his children's softball and football teams, Geoff made a difference in the lives of many young people. He encouraged them in ways beyond coaching. Geoff and Jana built their marriage around helping people, working hard and having fun. Geoff's philosophy was work hard-play harder, and due to this, always attracted a houseful of the young and/or young at heart. Every weekend you could catch him in in the garage with his son Alex, working on anything from motorcycles, go-carts and hot rods, to lawn mowers. Geoff instilled in his children, nieces and nephews the need to be independent and self-sufficient, and the importance of hard work and respect. He loved many sports, while he excelled in bowling, he enjoyed and gave his all toward any sport and loved competition. He was an avid Steelers fan. His daughter Daya loved to watch football with her daddy. Geoff will be deeply missed by all.

Surviving are; his wife Jana Marie Howard; daughters, Tiffany Marie Buffa-Howard, Hannah Elizabeth Howard, Daya Marie Howard; son Alex Michael Howard and wife Stephanie; granddaughter Raelyn; mother E. Denise Tator; sisters, Marge McGill and husband Jim, Allison Pidoto and husband Joey, Madlyn Howard, Rosann Sky and husband Jeff; as well as a multitude of extended family and friends. Geoff was preceded in death by his father Dion Michael Howard and brother Vincent Michael Howard.

Friends are invited and may call on Saturday August 6, 2016 from 9:00-11:00 AM at the Peck and Peck Funeral Home, 8063 State Route 22 in Copake, NY. Funeral services will follow at 11:00 AM.

Interment will be in the Niver Cemetery, Craryville NY.
