Gemma Maurina

Gemma Maurina, 94, of Pine Plains, NY passed away peacefully at Noble Horizons on September 22, 2024.  She was born on February 17, 1930 in Brooklyn, NY the daughter of the late John and Victoria (Rauzi) Rizzi.  Gemma worked in sales at Betesh, a high-end children’s clothing store before moving to Pine Plains to retire with the love of her life, her husband, Bob.  Gemma loved being a homemaker and her greatest joy in life was spending time with her family and preparing Sunday dinners, that brought everyone together for a delicious home cooked meal, prepared in the Northern Italian tradition.  Prior to her husband’s passing, Gemma and Bob enjoyed spending quiet time together, as well as traveling cross country, visiting Europe, and going on cruises.

Gemma is survived by her loving daughter, Linda, and her husband Bob Cordella,  as well as  her grandchildren, who held a special place in her heart, Brian Cordella, David Cordella and his wife Anne, Robert Cordella and his wife Jocelyn, and John Cordella and his wife Andrea, and her great grandchildren, Emma Maurina, Shea Eoin and Connor Patrick.

In addition to her parents, she was also predeceased by her wonderful husband, Roberto Maurina.

A time for sharing memories and offering condolences will be held from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM on Sunday, September 29, 2024 at Peck & Peck Funeral Homes, 7749 S. Main Street, Pine Plains, NY 12567.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, 11:00 AM at St. Anthony’s R.C. Church, Poplar Avenue, Pine Plains, NY.  Interment will follow immediately in Evergreen Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Gemma’s memory may be made to The Lustgarten Foundation or to St. Jude’s Research Hospital.
