Frieda Bloodgood, 104, of Stanfordville, passed away surrounded by her loving family on August 18, 2024 at Northern Dutchess Hospital. She was born on November 9, 1919 in Dietlingen, Germany the daughter of Heinchrich and Christine (Knodel) Rau. On March 8, 1952 in Queens, she married the late Clarence Bloodgood.
Frieda was a homemaker who loved to provide for her family. She found deep enjoyment in spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. They could be found playing bingo or uno, two of her favorite games. Frieda was a woman on the go. In her later years she found traveling with the Forever Young Club taking her to Disney World, on cruises to the Bahamas and a beautiful memory making trip to Nova Scotia. Throughout her years she perfected crochet and was an active member in the Women’s Fellowship at the United Church of Christ.
She is survived by her loving son John and his wife, Ellen Bloodgood of South Carolina. Her eleven loving grandchildren, Jason (Katie) Bloodgood, Keith (Kelly) Hegarty, Heidi (Kenny) Bathrick, Eugene (Cady) Bloodgood. Christina (Fred) Swartz, Michelle (Jason) Campbell, Kelly Fancher (Terry Benson), John Jr (Nicole) Bloodgood, Amanda (Travis) Angelo, Matthew Bloodgood (Ainsley Evans) and Sarah (Casey) Sullivan. And twenty two loving Great Grandchildren: Reagan, Declan, McKenna, Kyler, Alyssa, Liam, Emma, Wyatt, Kimberly, Lara, Emmet, Julia, Estelle, Ava, Zoe, Cole, Ryder, Keegan, Carter, Corbin, Ellis and John. Frieda is also survived by even more loving family both here in the United States and her home country of Germany.
In addition to her husband, she was also predeceased by her sons Charles (Connie) and Eugene (Kim) Bloodgood and her eight siblings.
A time for sharing memories and offering condolences will be held on Thursday, August 22, 2024 from 10:00 to 11:00 am at United Church of Christ, 5928 NY Rt. 82, Stanfordville, NY. Where at 11:00 am a funeral service will be conducted with Pastor Boyd officiating. Interment will follow in Stanford Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in Frieda’s memory may be made to St. Judes Children’s research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, Tennessee, 38105.
