Frank R. Clegg

Frank R. “Pops” Clegg, 88 of Claverack NY passed peacefully at his residence with his family by his side on Wednesday November 2, 2022.

He was born on October 22, 1934 in Hudson NY to the late Frank R. and Nora (Moran) Clegg.

Mr. Clegg had been employed for over 36 years for the Columbia County Department of Health as a sanitation inspector.

He was a United States Army veteran having served stateside during the Korean War.

Known for his quick wit and sense of humor he enjoyed spending time with his family and attending all of his grandkids sporting events through the years.

He was a volunteer youth baseball coach from Little League thru Babe Ruth levels, an avid hunter and fisherman, a member of the Philmont Rod and Gun Club and the Cat and Coon Club. A sports enthusiast, he was a devoted fan of the New York Yankees and the New York Giants. Later in life he enjoyed a round of golf with family and friends.

Survivors include his beloved wife of 58 years, Brenda (Stanley) Clegg of Claverack, a daughter, Sandra Clegg of White River Jct., VT and a son and daughter in law, Frank and Sandy Clegg JR. of Hillsdale NY. He also leaves his grandchildren, Master Staff Sargent Dylan Gunzinger, Kayla Clegg, Erin Clegg and Kolby Clegg. In addition, his sister and brother and law Noreen and Herman “Buzzy” Osswald and several nieces, nephews and extended family members.

Friends are invited and may call on Sunday November 6, 2022 from 2:00 – 4:00 PM at the Peck and Peck Funeral Home, Route 22 in Copake, NY.

Private interment services for family will be held on Monday in the Ghent Union Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorial contributions may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
