Florence Anita Stuart Dwyer 91, of Copake Falls died Tuesday July 6, 2010 at Fairview Hospital in Gt. Barrington, MA.
Born January 31, 1919 in Manhattan, she was the daughter of the late Floyd Gwyn Stuart and Kate (Smith) Stuart.
Mrs. Dwyer moved to Copake Falls with her late husband Thomas full time in 1983 upon his retirement. She had visited the area since she was a young girl, and in 1954 they bought property on North Mountain Road in Copake Falls.
Mrs. Dwyer attended Wellesley College along with her life long family friend Honey Flynn. This family friendship between the Stuarts, Allens, Hunters, Flynns, Froggatts, Massarellas, Munsters, and Callahans is still as strong today as it was a half century ago. She was well loved by her nieces and nephews and they will miss her dearly.
After college Florence worked for McCalls Magazine, she then retired and became a homemaker. She loved to go shopping for clothes with her niece Karen Flynn and also watch cooking shows and QVC on television. She had a passion for Dachshund's and loved her cats. She was a member of the Copake Falls Fire Company Women's Auxiliary and St. John in the Wilderness Episcopal Church Women.
She was pre-deceased by Constance (Regina), Alfred Stuart, Robert Stuart, Evelyn (Callahan) and Richard Stuart, her brothers and sisters.
According to her wish there will be no calling hours, but directly after Church Services at St. John in the Wilderness in Copake Falls at 11:00 on Sunday July 18, 2010 there will be a short service and a Gravesite prayer (weather permitting).
