Emma Dietter

Ancramdale - Emma Dietter, 91, a lifelong resident of Ancram, passed away on Saturday March 2, 2013 at the Livingston Hills Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Hudson, NY.

She was born on September 8, 1921 in Sharon, CT, the daughter of Ezra and Lucy (Rifenburgh) Houghtaling.

Mrs. Dietter worked as a machine operator and inspector for LPM, B & D and Hudson Cold Storage.

Emma married Ed Waldron, Sr., and later, on December 26, 1945 she married George W. Dietter. Mr. Dietter predeceased her on December 20, 2002. He has been waiting with open arms for her to join him forever.

Mrs. Dietter enjoyed her family, loved flower gardening, bingo, singing and music.

She is survived by two sons, Ed Waldron of Craryville; and George W. Dietter Jr. of Sparta, TN; and five daughters, Barbara Cade of Bells Pond; Claire Moore of Tivoli; Georgianna Waite of Ancram; Irene Miller of Hudson; and Patricia Slater of Ancram. She is also survived by nineteen grandchildren, many great grandchildren, a brother, Harold Houghtaling, and several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by four sisters, Bertha Conklin, Mabel Day, Ruth Duprey and Millie White, and two brothers, Robert and Walter Houghtaling.

Calling hours will be held from 10 AM to 12 PM on Wednesday March 6, 2013 at the Peck and Peck Funeral Home, 7749 S. Main St., Pine Plains.

Funeral services will begin at 12PM. Interment will follow in the Evergreen Cemetery.
