Ellsworth “Skip” Johnson, 71, of West Stockbridge passed away peacefully on June 19, 2021 at Fairview Hospital in Great Barrington. He was born on February 4, 1950 in Rhinebeck to the late Ellsworth John and Jennie Elizabeth Johnson.
At a young age Skip took an interest in farming. Which led to him being involved in 4-H and went on to become a machinist. However, his passion was farming, and animal husbandry. As a teenager, along with a veterinarian from Cornell, they they were instrumental in forming the New England Wool Growers Association. He also worked as a caregiver in the medical field later in life. Skip was also very involved in his church, the West Stockbridge Congregational Church, and also helped many through Alcoholics Anonymous .
Skip never had a bad word against anyone, always a smile or a come back in matter how bad he hurt or felt even till the end. He will be missed by a lot of people, whose day he brightened. He could start a conversation with anyone having an abundance of knowledge on many topics.
Ellsworth is survived by his loving wife, Patricia (Sheldon) Johnson, his daughters, Linda Parnes and Iris Weisner, sons; Darren (April) Rogers, Matthew (Shelby) Rogers, and Timothy (Kristin) Rogers. Seven adoring grandchildren, Christopher Weisner, Kyoshi Parnes, Brittany Rogers, Jasmine Finney, McKenzie Rogers, Khloe Rogers, and Adilynn Rogers.
A memorial service will be held on July 10, 2021 at 1:00 pm from the West Center open air Chapel, West Ctr. Road, West Stockbridge, MA.
