Pine Plains - On Wednesday, November 2, 2011, Elizabeth A. Moriarty, 97, entered into her final rest at Sharon Health Care Center in Sharon, CT.

Born on May 8, 1914 in Maspeth, Queens, she was the daughter of John J. Hirsch and Anna Hugle Hirsch.

On March 1, 1933 she married James V. Moriarty, who predeceased her on May 1, 1999.

The eldest of four, she was also predeceased by her brothers, John and Raymond Hirsch and her sister Louisa Hirsch Blackie.

Mrs. Moriarty is survived by her three children, Regina Castelli and Joan Moriarty of Pine Plains, NY; and her son and daughter-in-law, James and Laura Moriarty of Poughkeepsie, NY. She is also survived by thirteen grandchildren and twenty six great-grandchildren, as well as several nieces and nephews in the area and in Florida.

Her parents relocated to Northern Dutchess County and she attended Red Hook Central Schools. For many years she was a homemaker. In later years, she was self-employed and worked for several local entities, ultimately retiring from the Poughkeepsie Rural Cemetery as bookkeeper and office manager.

Calling hours will be held on Thursday, November 3, 2011 from 4 to 8 pm at the Peck and Peck Funeral Home, 7749 S. Main St., Pine Plains, NY 12567.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 am on Friday, November 4, 2011 at St. Anthony's Church, 68 Poplar Ave., Pine Plains, NY.

Interment will follow at St. Peter's Cemetery in Poughkeepsie, NY.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations are requested to the Sharon Health Care Center, PO Box 1268, Sharon, CT 06069
