Elizabeth C. Hamilton

Ancram- Elizabeth C. 'Bettie' Hamilton, 82, a lifelong resident of Ancram, NY, passed away on Thursday, August 1, 2013 at Westchester Medical Center.

She was born on January 5, 1931 in Long Island, NY, the daughter of William and Elizabeth (Stiehle) Hamilton.

Bettie previously owned the Little Store in Ancram for nearly 30 years. She also worked as a family care provider since 1976 up until her death.

Bettie was an animal lover who bred German Shepherds for many years.

She is survived by her German Shepherd, Christmas Holly; her cat, No Name; two cousins, Glenda Watson of WA; and John Stiehle of Ancram, NY; 4 nieces, Betty, Jackie, Barbara and Dorothy; 6 great nieces and nephews, Elizabeth, Lucas, Samantha, Cybil, Jack and David; dear friends, Patsy Smith, Rosemary Gansowski, Nancy Margerum, Jane Moore and Ruth Weidenbaum, all of Ancram, NY.

Memorial donations are requested to the Columbia-Greene Humane Society, 125 Humane Society Rd., Hudson, NY 12534.

Friends are invited and may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM on Tuesday, August 6, 2013, 2013 at the Peck and Peck Funeral Home, Route 22 in Copake, NY.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, August 7, 2013 at 1 PM from the Parish of Our Lady of Hope, 8074 State Route 22 in Copake Falls, NY. The Rev. George Brennan, pastor will officiate.

Interment will follow in St. Bridget's Cemetery.
