Edward R. Murphy, 54 of Hillsdale, NY, known to all as "Murph" passed away suddenly on Thursday February 11, 2016 at Columbia Memorial Hospital in Hudson, NY.

He was born on November 3, 1961 in Sharon, CT the son of the late Edward J. and Clara R. (Watts) Murphy.

Murph had been employed for over 26 years as a senior equipment operator with the Columbia County Highway Department. He also owned and operated his own landscaping business, Murphy's Mowing and More.

He was an active member of both the Craryville Rod & Gun Club and the Philmont Rod and Gun Club.

An avid outdoorsmen Murph loved hunting, fishing, especially for stripers on the Hudson, ice fishing, boating and tractor pulls always with the "Farmall". An accomplished jokester, he was quick with his wit and was never afraid to speak his mind. Murph was a fan of the Green Bay Packers and NASCAR, specifically the late Dale Earnhardt Sr.

We will greatly miss his "Murphism's" and his own special dialect of "Murphanese"

Survivors include his fiance Mary Jane Graham and her daughter Miranda of Hillsdale, NY. He also leaves his stepchildren, Jodie Seymour and Darrin Harr of Indian Lake, NY and Jamie Harr of Kingston, NY. His grandchildren, Darrin Jr., Evelyn and Olivia all of Indian Lake. Also his siblings, Craig Murphy and wife Lynn of Ancramdale, NY, Harry and Billy Heath of Hillsdale along with Gene Murphy and Lori Auclaire of Loris, S.C. Also survived by his godson Zach Heath, special nieces Alyssa Murphy and Mary Douglas and his beloved canine companion Michelob.

He was pre deceased by a sister, Susan Heath.

Friends are invited and may call on Thursday February 18, 2016 from 4 - 7 PM at the Peck and Peck Funeral Home, 8063 State Route 22 in Copake Falls, NY.

Graveside services will be held on Friday February 19, 2016 at 10 AM in the new section of the Hillsdale Rural Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be offered to the Craryville Rod and Gun Club for a scholarship, c/o Mary Jane Graham, 3528 County Route 7, Hillsdale, NY 12529.
