Hillsdale, NY - Edna H. Smith, 97 passed away on Saturday March 26, 2011 at the Gt. Barrington Rehabilitation & Nursing Center in Gt. Barrington, MA.

She was born on October 12, 1913 in North Hillsdale the daughter of the late Charles and Caroline (Uzner) Hoffman.

Mrs. Smith served as the Town Clerk for the Town of Hillsdale for over 30 years.

She was a member of the North Hillsdale United Methodist Church, a lifetime member of the Hillsdale Ladies Fire Auxiliary, past master of the North Hillsdale Grange, a member of the Pomona Grange and a 4 - H leader.

Mrs. Smith enjoyed her family, friends, neighbors, church and town community. Among her many interests were her vegetable and flower gardens, knitting, crocheting and baking.

Survivors include her son and daughter in law, Edward and Sara Smith of Hillsdale along with her daughter and son in law, Wendy and William Biasin of Gt. Barrington, MA. Additionally she leaves 4 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren along with several nieces and nephews.

On September 22, 1940 she married Arthur Smith. He pre - deceased her in 1993. She was also pre - deceased by a sister, Mary Wambach and a brother, Warren Hoffman Sr.

Friends are invited and may call on Wednesday March 30, 2011 from 5:00 - 8:00 PM at the Peck and Peck Funeral Home, 8063 State Route 22 in Copake, NY.

Her funeral service will be celebrated on Thursday March 31, 2011 at 11:00 AM from the North Hillsdale United Methodist Church with the Rev. Juanita Middlebrook officiating.

Interment will follow in the North Hillsdale Cemetery.

The family has requested memorial contributions be offered to the North Hillsdale United Methodist Church, Hillsdale NY 12529.
