Edna May Dawson

Edna May Davis Dawson known to most as Babe of Hillsdale passed away on December 2, 2017 after a short but hard fought battle. Babe was born April 2, 1928 in College Point, NY daughter of Charles E and Edna Vinny Cool Davis. Mrs. Dawson is survived by her husband and best friend Samuel, of 70 years. Also surviving are her daughter Anne O’ Connell of Holden, MA (Bill), daughter Sandra Dawson of Hillsdale (Dave) and son Samuel Dawson Jr (Sharon) also of Hillsdale. Also surviving are 7 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. Family members both near and far were always the center of her life. A tiny but tough woman she was her husband’s back up whether on the dairy farm or in local politics. Babe will always be known for her homemade pies. She is predeceased by a daughter Betsy Sue and her two brothers and one sister. Babe is a graduate of Roeliff Jansen Central School class of 1946. She was a founding member of the Hillsdale Volunteer Fire Company Auxiliary, a member of the North Hillsdale Methodist Church, and of the Hillsdale Grange.

Calling hours are at Peck and Peck Funeral Home Wednesday December 6 th from 4-7. Services are Thursday December 7 th at the North Hillsdale Methodist church at 11:00 with burial immediately following in the North Hillsdale cemetery.
