Earl Hugh Mellan Sr

Earl Hugh Mellan Sr., 57 of Route 22 in Hillsdale, NY passed away on Monday December 30, 2013 at his residence.

He was born on December 28, 1956 in Niagara Falls, NY the son of Mary Jean Mellan and the late William Mellan Sr.

Earl had been a resident of the Hillsdale area since 1974 and was employed for 36 years at the Ancram Paper Mill, Schweiter - Mauduit International, Inc.

He was devoted to his chocolate lab Mischka and his four cats.

Earl was a loving and devoted father and grandfather. Outspoken, he was not afraid to speak his mind and enjoyed sharing a funny story. He was well known, loved for his outgoing personality and will be greatly missed by family and friends.

Survivors include his mother, Mary Jean Mellan; five sons, Earl Mellan Jr., Louis Mellan, Matthew Mellan, Chris Stalker and George Stalker Jr. He also leaves his grandchildren Louis Mellan Jr., Dean Mellan, Anthony King, Dylan Mellan, Kelsi Mellan, Chase Mellan, Hannah Stalker, Nathanial Mellan, Aaliyah Stalker, Jocelyn Stalker and Chase Stalker. In addition he leaves his brothers, Dennis and Thomas Mellan along with several nieces and nephews.

He was pre-deceased by his wife Betty Stalker Mellan, his father Willam Mellan Sr. and brothers, William Jr., Dennis and Timothy Mellan.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday January 4, 2014 at 10 AM from the Peck and Peck Funeral Home, 8063 State Route 22 in Copake NY.

Friends are invited and may call on Friday January 3, 2014 from 2 - 4 and 6 - 8 PM at the funeral home.

Interment will be in the North Hillsdale Cemetery.
