Dorothy Jean Hoffman

Dorothy Jean Hoffman of Hillsdale, NY passed away peacefully on February 22, 2020.

Dorothy was born July 4 ^th , 1927, the daughter of Harold and Helen DeWitt of North Chatham.

She married Warren George Hoffman, Sr. of Hillsdale on October 6 ^th , 1947.  She worked for a local company for a time.

Together they have five sons, Warren G. Hoffman, Jr. (Donna VanAllen), Dale A. Hoffman (Denise), Bruce D. Hoffman (Patricia), Ned C. Hoffman (Terri), and Gary L. Hoffman (Patricia).

She and Warren had a prosperous dairy farm and in business with son, Gary, milking over 50 head of cattle.

Dorothy is predeceased by her parents and sisters, Edna Hancock of Ohio, Mary Maiorano of Thornwood, and Helen Kukon of Germantown as well as her husband.

She is survived by her sister, Evangeline of Hasbrouck Heights, her sons and nine grandchildren: Brian (Sarah) Hoffman, Rebecca Hoffman, Pamela Hoffman (Joshua), Leanne Hoffman Sorrentino (Michael), Amelia Hoffman (Michael Curry), Hannah Hoffman, Allison Hoffman (Michael Moore), Brittany Hamberger (Douglas), and Kimberly Hoffman. She has four great grandchildren, Gabriella Hoffman-Emory, Elena Sorrentino, Alexander McCleester, and Daxton Hamberger and many nieces and nephews.

Dorothy was an avid quilter, knitter and baker.  She loved making items for her family. She also loved crossword puzzles and garden flowers.

Friends are invited and may call on Wednesday February 26, 2020 from 4:00 – 8:00 PM at the Peck and Peck Funeral Home, Route 22 in Copake NY.

Services will be held at the funeral home on Thursday February 27, 2020 at 11:00 AM.

Interment will follow in the North Hillsdale Cemetery.
