Clinton Corners, NY - Dorothy A. Burkowske, 88, a life long resident of Clinton Corners, passed away on Sunday, November 14, 2010 at Geer Nursing and Rehab in Canaan, CT.
She was born in Poughkeepsie, NY on May 6, 1922 the daughter of the late Henry G. and Mary E. (Bedell) Burkowske.
Ms. Burkowske served in the United States Coast Guard (SPARS) during WW II from March 1943 - December 1945.
She was a graduated from Oakwood Friends School and the Lewis Hotel Training School.
She retired in 1984 from the Dutchess County Infirmary as Dietetic Assistant - Food Supervisor in Millbrook, NY.
She was a member of the Evangelical Free Church in Clinton Corners, NY, the Upton Lake Grange #802, as well as the Pomona #32 State and National Grange. Dorothy was President and Trustee of the Friends of Upton Lake Cemetery, a former member of the Pleasant Valley Vagabond camping group and the Town of Clinton Historical Society. She was also a charter member of the Women's Foundation of the U.S. Navy Memorial.
Survivors include an aunt, Jean Burkowske, as well as many cousins.

Funeral services and burial will held at the convenience of the family.
