Donald Eugene Webster

Pine Plains, NY - Donald Eugene Webster, DVM, 93, passed away on Tuesday, November 11, 2014 at home.

He was born on June 24, 1921 in Geneva, NY, the son of the late William L. and Ruth M. (Sargent) Webster.

He honorably served his Country in the United States Army Air Corps during WW II. As a B-24 Co-Pilot, he flew twenty eight Bombing Missions over Germany. He made the Rank of 1st Lieutenant.

Dr. Webster Donald graduated from Pittsford High School in 1938. He graduated from Cornell College of Agriculture in 1943 and from Cornell Veterinary College 1949.

In 1949 he joined Dr. Roswell Brown in his veterinary practice in Pine Plains. When Dr. Brown retired, Dr. Webster became sole owner of the practice. Dr. Webster was joined by Dr. Douglas Hart in 1967 and Dr. Michael O'Neill in 1978. Dr. Webster fully retired in 1994.

Mr. Webster served on the Pine Plains Board of Education, the Library Board and the Evergreen Cemetery Board.

He was a member of the Stissing National Bank Board of Directors, a Charter Member of the Pine Plains Lions Club, a member of the Stissing Lodge #615 F&AM Masonic Lodge and the New York State Veterinary Society.

On December 10, 1950 he married Dora (Peck) Webster in New Lebanon, NY. She survives him at home.

In addition to his loving wife Dora of sixty three years, survivors include four children, Dawn Bartolomeo and her husband William of Pine Plains, NY; Debra Webster of Albany, NY; Deidre and her husband Robert Gabielsen of Clayton, NC; David and his wife Ursula Webster of Livingston, NJ; seven grandchildren, Andrea, (James Storms) William, Daniel, Lindsey, Andrew, Alexander, Peter and several nieces and nephews.

He is also survived by a brother, Dr. William S. Webster of Hamburg, NY; two cousins, Betty Buell and Jean Bubb.

He was predeceased by a brother, L. Richard Webster.

There are no calling hours.

Funeral service and interment will be at the convenience of the family.
