Donald G. Spohr

Donald G. Spohr, age 88, passed away peacefully on Saturday May 29th, 2021.  Don was born August 7th, 1932 at Albany Medical Center.  Don was a loving husband to Joyce Case Spohr, they were married in January 1953.

Don loved to hunt, fish and had many other outdoor callings.  Don had one best friend; his son Gary, he called him Mister Fix It.  Don became a well-known dowser for finding good drinking water. He taught dowsing to a good many friends saying they will be needed in the future. Don was a pretty good ball player in the inter state league, and was also active in the kids minor and little leagues as well as tri county league. He was a past president of the Pine Plains Lions Club where he started a successful Bass Tournament that raises funds for eyesight and hearing.  He ran the tournament for 25 years and to this day it is still going strong.

Don leaves his grandchildren and great grandchildren, he enjoyed watching them grow and they enjoyed playing with PopPop over the years.

Don leaves behind one saying, “Here today, gone tomorrow.”

Family and friends are invited and may call Friday, June 4, 2021 from 4:00 to 6:30 pm at Peck & Peck Funeral Home, 7749 S. Main Street, Pine Plains, NY. Where a prayer service will be conducted at 6:30pm. The family requests casual dress for calling hours and prayer service, just as Don would have wanted. Memorial contributions are requested to the Pine Plains Lions Club, P.O. Box 881 Pine Plains, NY 12567.

Don also leaves this special note for his family and friends “Sorry to leave you all, maybe I’ll pick you out of the crowd that sits on the clouds.”
