Canaan, CT - Darwin Miller, 87, a lifelong resident of Pine Plains, NY passed away on Friday, February 7, 2014 in Canaan CT with his loving family by his side.
He was born on October 16, 1926 in Poughkeepsie, NY the son of the late William and Gertrude (Atkins) Miller.
Mr. Miller was a graduate of the Pine Plains Central School District and the Krissler Business Institute in Poughkeepsie, NY.
Mr. Miller worked on the Pilch Farm in Pine Plains, the Pine Plains Central School District and the Eureka Plumbing Supply Company in Poughkeepsie, NY. He retired at the age of 58.
He was an avid gardener, hunter, trapper and fisherman.
On January 1, 1949 at the First Presbyterian Church, Pine Plains, NY, he married Dorothy (Marshall) Miller. She survives him at home.
In addition to his loving wife Dorothy of sixty five years, survivors include two daughters, Carol Miller and her husband, Craig Shelley of Pine Plains, NY; Caren Bunce and her husband Richard of Canaan, CT; three grandchildren, Christa Miller-Shelley, Jesse and Ashton Bunce.
Calling hours and interment will be private.
A funeral service will be held at 11 AM on Saturday, February 15, at The First Presbyterian Church, 3039 Rte. 199 Pine Plains, NY.
