Danielle (Ramundo) Thurston, 39, loving wife, mother and daughter, passed away on February 17, 2012.
Danielle grew up in Mahopac, NY and graduated from Danbury High School in Danbury, CT. She moved to New Mexico and earned her Bachelor's degree and this is where she met her husband John Thurston. After being diagnosed with Stage IV breast cancer metastatic to her lymph nodes, blood stream and liver three years ago she and John moved their family to Clinton Corners, NY to be close to her family.
For those of us that were lucky enough to know Danielle, we had a friend for life. She would do anything for anybody even putting the needs of others in front of her own. She carried herself with dignity and pride. She was a courageous fighter and a little stubborn. Danielle appreciated every single moment in life and was an inspiration to all. In trying to find the right path for her own health she educated others. She loved to read books and write poetry. She had a love for animals and enjoyed horseback riding. She was a dedicated mother to her two young boys and savored every minute with them.
Danielle is survived by her husband John Thurston, sons John and Matthew, stepchildren Braden Thurston and Halee Fincher of New Mexico, mother Iris Riccardi, and father Anthony Ramundo and brother Tony Ramundo of Pleasant Valley, New York.
We are all deeply saddened by her death. Danielle left her mark on the world and we have been blessed just knowing her. She is an angel in heaven now.
A celebration of Danielle's life will be held on Saturday, February 25th at 11:00 at the First Presbyterian Church of Pleasant Valley, 1576 Main Street (Route 44), Pleasant Valley, NY 12569.
