Clinton Dean Savoury, 82 a former longtime resident of Poughquag, NY passed peacefully on Tuesday July 20, 2010 at his summer residence in Craryville, NY (Columbia County).
Fondly known as "Chick", Mr. Savoury was born on June 11, 1928 in Nyack, NY the son of the late Thomas and Cleo (Murphy) Savoury.
He was a graduate of Oswego State College in 1971 where he received his Bachelor of Science degree. He later taught carpentry for over 30 years in the Putnam County BOCES program and later in the Westchester County BOCES program.
Clint served his country during the Korean War and later served his community as life member and past fire police captain of the Beekman Fire Company.
Clint raised his family in Poughquag before his retirement spending his time at his home in Bokeelia, FL and summers in Craryville.
He loved his life, his children and was a cherished friend to many.
On June 21, 1951 he married the love of his life, Geraldine, "Geri" Savoury. She pre - deceased him on October 13, 2009.
Survivors include his children, Keith, Shawn and Dana; his grandchildren, Megan, Clinton, Jenny, Shawna and Neena along with his great grandchild, Xzavier. He also leaves a sister, Nancy Jameson.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was pre - deceased by two brothers, Thomas and Kenny.
Private services and interment will be held at the convenience of the family.
Memorial contribuions may be offered to your local chapter of the American Cancer Society for pancreatic cancer research.
