Ghent, NY - Clarence D. Murphy Sr., 60, passed away on Saturday, October 9, 2010 at Columbia Memorial hospital in Hudson, NY.

He was born on November 16, 1949 in Poughkeepsie, NY the son of the late Charles H. and Laura Murphy.

He graduated from Pine Plains High School; he was a Rusty Wallace NASCAR Fan and an avid bowler.

Mr. Murphy was a machine operator for Sunoco Crellin Inc. Company in Chatham, NY.

On June 21, 1969 at Smithfield Presbyterian in Amenia, NY he married Mildred B. "Wendover" Murphy. She survives him at home in Ghent.

In addition to his loving wife survivors include five sons, Clarence D. Murphy Jr. of Hillsdale, NY; James C. and his wife Nancy Murphy of Ancram, NY; Michael P. Murphy of Chatham, NY; Randy R. and his wife Molly Murphy of Chatham, NY; Thomas S. Murphy of Ghent, NY; a friend, David R. Mercay of Ghent, NY; five grandchildren, one great grandson, a brother, Charles Murphy of White Hall, NY; three sisters, Peggy Ann Beneway of Stanfordville, NY; Mary Gallagher of Maryland and Jane also of Maryland; several nieces and nephews, and a foster step - mother, Florence O'Malley of Stanfordville, NY. "He loved spoiling his grandchildren"

Calling hours are 4 to 8 pm on Tuesday, October 12, at the Peck & Peck Funeral Home Rte 22 Copake, NY

Funeral services are 11 am on Wednesday, October 13, at the funeral home.

Interment will follow in the Union Cemetery in Ancram, NY.
