Clare Marie Leverone Carman of County Route 7A , Copake NY, passed away on July 23rd 2014 at the home of her daughter in Pittsfield MA.
Born Feb 16th 1931 in the Boston MA area, she was the daughter of James and Agnes Leverone.
Clare is predeceased by her husband Harold W Carman Sr., and by her son Harold W Carman Jr.
She and her husband lived in Riparius NY for a number of years before moving to Copake.
She was an avid horse-woman, owning many horses, and was a member of the NYS 4-H and the NYS Horse Council, where she participated in yearly 100-mile horse rides. She was also an active community member, having served on the Fireman's Auxiliary and town Historical Society. She organized many town events, provided service for volunteer organizations, and held safety training for young snowmobilers at her home. Clare was also a talented artist, whose many paintings adorn the homes of friends and family. Clare also became quite talented at the restoration of antiques, as well as the restoration of classic car interiors, as she assisted in the family businesses that she and her husband worked closely together on.
She is survived by 3 children, daughter Susan and Husband James McGiffert of Phoenix AZ, daughter Jane and husband Bernie Mack of Pittsfield MA, and son James and wife Bernadette of Castleton NY. She is also survived by 5 grandchildren, and 5 great-grandchildren.
