Millerton – Charlotte Mary Fenn, 97, passed away Thursday, January 14, 2021, at the Meadows at Brookemeade, Rhinebeck, NY.
Charlotte was born at home on March 19, 1923 in Millerton, N.Y. to Bernard and Gertrude (Dikeman) Manning. One of three children, Charlotte enjoyed riding horses, playing basketball and swimming in the local lake with her school mates.
A lifelong resident of Millerton, Charlotte was a devoted mother to Gary, Jacqueline (Jackie), and Ross. Charlotte dedicated her life to her friends, her family and her home. In particular, she cared for her daughter Jackie, who was born with Cerebral Palsy.
Charlotte was an avid bird watcher and loved to sit on the porch to watch the deer at sunset. She enjoyed visits from her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, always offering up some sort of chocolate treat. She was quick-witted and a remarkable storyteller. Charlotte had an engaging personality, able to befriend all she encountered, a skill she perfected early in life working at her parents’ tavern.
In addition to her parents, Charlotte was predeceased by her daughter Jackie Fenn, her son Gary Fenn, her sister Bernice O’Loughlin, her infant sister Catherine Manning, and her husband Merrill Fenn.
She is survived by her son Ross Fenn; grandchildren, Stacie (Jesse) Smith, Kathleen (Jereme) Fenn, Kristin (Ron) Potter, Leighann (James) Robertson, Todd (Danielle) Fenn, and Tyler Fenn; twelve great-grandchildren; and daughter-in-law Cathy Fenn.
