Pine Plains, NY - Charles H. Schultz Jr., 74, a resident of Pine Plains died Monday February 18, 2013 at Noble Horizons in Salisbury, CT.

Born on February 28, 1938 in the Bronx, NY, he was the son of the late Charles and Mary (Woods) Shultz.

He was a graduate of Pine Plains High School and SUNY Delhi in 1958.

On December 12, 1959 in Fort Hood, TX, he married Edna F. Beal. Mrs. Schultz survives him at home. In addition to his loving wife, survivors include three daughters, Julia and Mark Reed of Ancram, NY, Carlene and Jay Russell of Clinton Corners, NY and Lisa and Michael Scrodin of Germantown, NY and six grandchildren, Emily and Eric Reed, Zachary, Patrick and Megan Russell and Michael C. Scrodin.

Charles is also survived by a sister, Imogene Fink of South Carolina.

He was predeceased by a brother Frederick.Charles served in the Army for two years in Fort Hood, Texas and achieved the Rank of Staff Sergeant.

Charles was a member of local 12 construction union while in California, then worked 34 years for the New York Department of Transportation in Poughkeepsie. Upon retirement he worked for Lakeland Hudson Valley in Kingston,New York as a quality control manager.

Charles was a volunteer fireman for the Stanfordville Fire Company and the Stanfordville Rescue Squad for several years and Chairman of the Board of the Milan Fire Company and the Milan Fire Police and a member of the Millerton American Legion Post #178.

Charles enjoyed the outdoors, especially hunting and hiking with friends and family.

There are no calling hours.

A funeral service will be held at 11 AM on Friday, February 22, 2013 at the Peck and Peck Funeral home, 7749 South Main St., Pine Plains, NY.

Interment will be at the convenience of the family.

Memorial contributions are requested to the Milan Fire Company 250 Williams Rd. Milan, NY 12571.
