Charles H. Knox, 85 of Copake, NY passed away on Friday June 7, 2013 at Columbia Memorial Hospital in Hudson, NY.
He was born on August 29, 1927 in Copake the son of John E. and Myra (Ostrom) Knox.
Mr. Knox was a graduate of Roeliff Jansen Central School class of 1946. Upon his graduation he served with the United States Army from 1946 - 1948.
Charles retired from the United States Postal Service in 1990 after serving as postmaster in Copake for 25 years. Previously he worked at Central Auto Parts in Hudson and along with his brother and father in the family construction business.
He was an avid collector of minature oil lamps and a member of the Night Light Club. Charles was also a member of the Antique Auto Club of America and served on the board of directors of the Copake Cemetery Association. On April 21, 1956 he married Jane Grube at the Church of St. John in the Wilderness in Copake Falls.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Jane Knox of Copake; a son and daughter in law, Dean and Rose Knox of Ghent and his grandaughter, Ashley Knox of Ghent. In addition he leaves his brother and sister in law, Ernest and Shirley Knox of Copake; a sister Janet Davis of Sun Lakes, AZ and a sister and brother in law, Marilyn and Walter Johnson also of Sun Lakes, AZ and a brother in law, Kenneth Roberts of Chandler, AZ
In addition to his parents he was pre - deceased by a sister Shirley Roberts and a brother in law David Davis.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday June 12, 2013 at 11 AM from the Church of St. John in the Wilderness located on Route 344 in Copake Falls, NY. The Rev. John Thompson, Rector, will officiate.
Calling hours will be private.
Interment will follow the services in St. John's Cemetery located on the church grounds.
