Catherine 'Barbara' Simmons, a longtime resident of Pine Plains, entered into eternal peace on Tuesday, May 12, 2015 at the age of 84 while surrounded by her loving family and friends. Barbara was born on June 6, 1930 and is now reunited with her late parents Floyd W. and Frances M. (Dwyer) Christy, her precious son Thomas Wolven and many other loved ones.
Barbara was the wife of the late Roswell M. Simmons. She is survived by her 8 children, 4 sons: Ricky Wolven, David Wolven, Steven Wolven, J. Peter Simmons, 4 daughters: Christy Curran, Sheila Wolven, Tracy Wolven, Cathryn Hay and many grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren. She was an amazingly strong woman who spent her life working hard and raising her family. She will be deeply missed.
Barbara, an intelligent and spunky woman, was a proud member of the Pine Plains Fire Department for many years, and always eager to help anyone in need. She happily shared her knowledge with anyone that she thought needed it, that is, unless NASCAR was on. She was an avid fan that rarely missed "her" race.
Calling hours will be held at Peck & Peck Funeral Home, 7749 S. Main St, Pine Plains on Thursday, May 21st between the hours of 4pm and 7pm. She will be laid to rest at St. Mary's Cemetery in Schuylerville, NY, with her beloved father and mother.
