Barbara Irene Bay was born in St.Agnes Hospital on March 1, 1940 in White Plains, NY to parents Irene (Glazier) and Robert L Baker Jr., both of whom are deceased. She died peacefully, surrounded by her family, at her home on January 15, 2025. Besides her parents, Barbara was predeceased by her sister Janet Filippini, sister-in-law Barbara Muldoon, nephews Kevin D'Errico and TJ Muldoon, grandsons Robert Weatherborn and James Bay. On July 2, 1960 she married her devoted husband of 65 years. John L. Bay, who survives at home.
Barbara is also survived by 3 children; Diana of Wilmington, NC, John (Mary Ann) of Pine Plains, NY & James "Bubba" of Pine Plains, NY. She has 8 grandchildren, Jenesis (Chris) Campbell of Pine Plains, NY Cassandra Millius of Gettysburg, PA, Holly, Heather, Joshua of Pine Plains,NY, Lauryn of Fort Pierce, FL, Logan of Pine PIains, NY, Jon (Megan) Weatherborn of Longmeadow,MA. She also has six great grandchildren Xander, Elliot, Sterling, Iris, Hazel and Robert. Barbara is also survived by her sister Lois D'Errico of Las Vegas.
Barbara had two careers; working as a medical secretary in Ossining, NY and Sharon CT for a total of 8 years. She worked in a variety of positions for the Pine Plains Central School. Barbara retired from the school district in December of 2004 with 25 years of service. Barbara was a charter member of both the Pine Plains Bomber Boosters and the Ladies Auxiliary of the Pine Plains Hose Company.
She was both a Girl Scout & Cub Scout leader. She was co-Neighborhood Chairman representing both Pine Plains & Millerton in the 1970's.
Beyond her professional life, Barbara found joy in visiting casinos and traveling to new places. However, her greatest passion was spending time with her family. She never missed an opportunity to support them at games, recitals, or concerts-a testament to her unwavering love and commitment.
A time for sharing memories and offering condolences will be on Wednesday, January 22, 2025 from4:00 to 8:00pm at Peck & Peck Funeral Homes, 7749 S. Main Street, Pine Plains. A remembrance service will be held at 7:45, to conclude the evening. A celebration of Barbara’s life will be held in the summertime. Inurnment will take place privately at the convenience of the family.
