Barbara Grant Battistoni, 84, of Stanfordville, passed away on November 17, 2021. She was born in Poughkeepsie, on December 23, 1936 to Stephen and Barbara (Place) Grant.  Barbara spent her childhood in Millbrook, NY and graduated from Millbrook High School.  She graduated top of her class from Saint Francis School of Nursing and worked over thirty years at Sharon Hospital, as an RN and a Supervisor of Nurses. On September 1, 1956, in Lake George, NY, Barbara married John Battistoni.  They settled in Stanfordville.

Barbara is survived by John and their 4 children, Lori (Edward) Conklin of Parsonsburg, MD; Debra (Gary) MacElveen of Poughkeepsie; Mark (Catherine) Battistoni of Millbrook; and Carol (Eric) Waldschmidt of Verbank, NY.  She is also survived by ten grandchildren; Christofer (Susan) Conklin, John (Lisa Pedevillano) MacElveen, William (Elise) MacElveen, Joseph (Samantha) MacElveen, Daniel (Rhianna Blake) MacElveen, Nicole (Charles) Miller, Joseph Battistoni, Ema (Adam Dias) Waldschmidt, Samuel (Nicole Kennedy) Waldschmidt, and Anna (Kyle Apel) Waldschmidt, and one great-grandson, Giovanni MacElveen.  Barbara is also survived by her brother and sister-in-law Richard and Betty Battistoni and several nieces and nephews.

Barbara was an active member of the United Church of Christ, and following her retirement from Sharon Hospital, she was instrumental in starting and running their thrift shop.  She volunteered many years at the Stanford Library.  While Barbara most enjoyed spending time with her family, she had many interests. She was a talented seamstress, quilter, embroiderer, knitter and restorer of antique furniture.  Being a natural caregiver, she had an affinity for stray animals and was especially fond of the many cats she cared for over the years. Barbara was also an avid reader.

Barbara was predeceased by her parents and her sister, Glenda Brandt.

Due to covid concerns, services will be private. Interment will take place in Stanford Cemetery.
