Anga L. Nielsen, 85, passed away on October 18, 2024 at her home at the Fountains of Millbrook. She was born October 16, 1939 on the family farm in Neelyville, Missouri to Ollie Mae (Trentelman) and Paul Ferguson. She came to New York as a child and was raised in Larchmont when her mother married into the Keresey family. She met her husband, Trooper Laurits (Larry) Nielsen, as a young woman while working as a court clerk. They married in 1964 and moved to Pine Plains to begin a family, eventually buying a house in Stanfordville where they lived for almost fifty years.
She had a lifelong love of horses and got her first horse, Hi-Dee, as a young woman in Larchmont. The family home always had horses, dogs and cats as part of the family, she showed and bred German Shepherd dogs for a number of years. Her love of animals was passed on to her children and grandchildren. She was a member and past president of the Stanford Lions Club.
Anga is survived by her children, Vivian Walsh (Kevin Walsh) of Pine Plains and Redmond Nielsen of Berlin, Germany, and her grandchildren, Kyle Walsh (Tyler Mikels) of Utica, NY and Paige Walsh of Newport, VT. Devotion to her family defined her life.
She was predeceased by her husband in 2018.
A time to share memories and offer condolences will be held from 12:00 to 2:00 on Sunday, October 27, 2024 at Peck & Peck Funeral Homes, 7749 S. Main Street, Pine Plains. Where a funeral service will be conducted at 2:00pm.
