Alfred P. Quaile, 82, passed peacefully Tuesday March 17, 2015 at the Fairview Commons Nursing Home in Great Barrington, Massachusetts. He is survived by his high school sweetheart and wife of 62 years, Eve, his son Philip, and daughter-in-law Sandy, his daughter, Jeanne and son-in-law, Jeffrey, his son, Scott, and daughter-in-law, Christine, and his daughter, Joanne, and son-in-law, Robert and his three grandchildren and one great grandchild.
Born and raised in Floral Park, New York, Al attended Sewanhaka High School, where he met Eve. After graduating Al served our country as a Sergeant in the Army in Korea. After serving, he returned to Queens, New York, where they started their family.
Al began his long career in the auto body repair business after returning from Korea, and worked in Flushing with his sons. In 1990 he and Eve moved to Copake Falls with his son Scott and daughter-in-law, Christine, where they opened Davis Auto Body. Al always took great pride in his work and enjoyed knowing his customers.
As a young father, Al was an active member of the Christ Evangelical Church of Floral Park, a leader of the Church's young Luther League and was involved with the Boy Scouts for 50 years. Al and Eve were passionate about horses and were owners of riding horses and rode on Long Island up until their move to Copake Falls, where they continued to ride and enjoy many local trails. Always, Al has been involved in the auto racing circuit and for the past 35 years was always at his son's, Scott, side at the track. In their most recent years together, Al and Eve would be seen at local ballroom events, dancing and making new friends. Together in their retired years they enjoyed railroading to various U.S.A. destinations and taking cruises.
Al was always surrounded by his family and friends and will be missed and dearly remembered by all who knew him.
A private burial for family will be held at the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery.
