Aldo L. Biondi, 95 of Copake, NY passed away on Friday October 4, 2019 at Columbia Memorial Hospital in Hudson, NY.
He was born on March 17, 1924 in Brooklyn, NY the son of Joseph and Maria (Jaccarelli) Biondi.
Mr. Biondo had been a local resident since 1987 previously residing on Long Island.
He graduated college with a degree in advertising and had been employed as the director of advertising for Macy’s Dept. Store in New York City for 7 years. He later served in the same capacity at the International Playtex Corp for an additional 32 years. Upon his retirement to Copake he became employed by Columbia County as an attendant at the Copake Transfer Station.
At age 18 he volunteered and proudly served his country with the United States Army under General McArthur in the pacific theater of operations from 1942 – 1946. He was a member of the Cadby – Shutts VFW Post #7552 in Hillsdale.
Mr. Biondi was a volunteer fireman for the Halesite Fire Dept. on Long Island for over 22 years. He was a member of the former Roeliff Jansen Lions Club, a volunteer for Meals on Wheels and a member of the Roe Jan Area Young at Hearters. He was an avid fisherman and love to ski, play golf and tennis.
Survivors include his wife of 69 years, Carmela (Chiocco) Biondi of Copake; his daughters, Celeste Gustavsson of Hillsdale and Gina Hosier of Copake along with a grandson, Joseph Hamm of Copake.
A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday October 16, 2019 at 11 AM from the Parish of Our Lady of Hope in Copake Falls with the Rev. George Brennan officiating.
Friends are invited and may call at the church also on Wednesday from 10 – 11 AM
A reception will be held immediately following the mass in Dwyer Hall.
Private interment will be at the convenience of the family.
