GERALD W. CHESTNEY
In 1985 Gerald W. Chestney purchased the practice after having worked with the Peck family since 1958. Jerry, as he prefers to be called, is a 1954 graduate of Simmons School of Embalming and Mortuary Science, has served two years of active duty in the U.S. Army, mostly in Germany, and has lived with his wife Elizabeth Frueh Chestney in Pine Plains since coming to the area. They have two children, Catherine E. Fitzpatrick of Pine Plains and Christopher W. Chestney, who is currently the chief operating officer of the company. Jerry has been extremely active in community affairs including among others the Pine Plains Lions Club, the Community Food Locker, Pine Plains Council of Churches, a life member of the Pine Plains Hose Company and Rescue Squad, Stissing Masonic Lodge #615 and the Jackson Comers Vigilant Society.
Scott D. Chwalek is the resident manager of the Copake facility and joined the firm in 1985. He is a graduate of New Hartford High School, New Hartford N.Y. Scott attended Utica College of Syracuse University and attained an Associate of Applied Sciences degree from the State University of New York at Canton, N.Y. He along with his wife Cindy reside in Copake along with their three children, Amanda, Joshua and Kristin. Scott has been very active in the Roe Jan Little League, a member of the Roe Jan Lions Club and Hillsdale Masonic Lodge # 612 Free and Accepted Masons along with volunteering at the Copake Park and Recreation programs.
JEFFERY S. PROPER
Jeff Proper is the resident manager of the Pine Plains facility having joined the firm in 1985. Jeff is a graduate of Rolliff Jansen High School and the Simmons School of Mortuary Science in 1989. After serving his residency with the firm, he joined the full time staff and moved to Pine Plains with his wife Christa Campbell Proper in 1991. They currently live in the area with their three children Dylan, Megan and Evan. Jeff has been extremely active in the Pine Plains Lions Club, the minor league football and minor league baseball program and the Bomber Boosters Club. Jeff is also past President of the Pine Plains Lion's Club, a member of Pine Plains Recreation, and is currently President of the Deer Run Lodge.
